On October 31st we will celebrate the Halloween party.
The origin of the HALLOWEEN party dates back more than 3,000 years. The celebration of HALLOWEEN began with the Celtics, former settlers of Eastern, Western Europe and part of Asia Minor.
The Druids, pagan priests worshipers of trees, especially oak, believed in the immortality of the soul. On the night of October 31, the barriers that, according to their mythology, separated the world from the living from the dead, opened, and the souls of the dead returned to their earthly homes. To satisfy the spirits and keep away the evil spirits from their homes, the Celtics deposited all kinds of food on their doors.
For the Celtics, as for all the peoples of Antiquity, the seasonal changes had a magical meaning. The SAMHAIN was the party with which the end of the harvest was celebrated and with which winter was welcomed. The Celtic year ended with autumn, whose main feature is the fall of the leaves. For them it meant the end of death or initiation of a new life. This teaching spread throughout the years along with the worship of their god the “Lord of death”, or “Samagin”, whom on this same day they invoked to consult him about the future, health, prosperity …
When the Celtic peoples became Christianized, not everyone renounced pagan customs. That is, the conversion was not complete. The chronological coincidence of the pagan feast with the Christian feast of All Saints made them combine. Instead of remembering the good examples of the saints and praying for the ancestors, the inhabitants of these villages maintained their old superstitions about death and the dead.
Some Irish immigrants introduced Halloween to the United States where it became part of popular folklore. Various pagan elements taken from different immigrant groups were added to include the belief in witches, ghosts, goblins and monsters of all kinds. From there, it has spread throughout the world.
At present, in the US and Canada, homes are adorned with pumpkins, witches, ghosts, skeletons and black cats. We will also decorate our center and, in addition, we will conduct thematic workshops related to the spirit of HALLOWEEN.
We hope that all of our students come to the school dressed up from home and willing to celebrate a GHOSTLY PARTY … For the safety of our children we ask you to only bring costume gadgets that are safe for your children.
We recommend that, if possible, the costumes of the little ones are not of a whole piece (BODYSUIT) to help their autonomy at the time of going to the toilet.
As every year, making an exception, we will deliver some candies to all the children during the celebration. Remember that they cannot bring them from home
We look forward to meet you the 31st of October!
